“Democratize access to literature” is how the O, Miami Poetry Festival describes its mission. It does that, in part, by coming up with a month’s worth of ingenious ideas to get non-poetry fans to attend mostly free events, including:

Planetary Poems at Frost Science

Animated poetry on view April 12 at the museum will celebrate Poet Laureate Tracy K. Smith’s collection, Life on Mars.

Flaming Classics: Club Jewel Box

Catch film screenings by Warhol and others, along with poetry, April 13 at YoungArts’ magical Jewel Box.

Syrian Supper Club

Poetry and food from Syrian refugee moms come together April 20 at a communal table.

WLRN Zip Ode Finale at Vizcaya

Winning entries to the station’s poetry contest are revealed April 25.

Foggy Windows Radio Show

Poets Hanif Abdurraqib and Eloisa Amezcua will record live 8 p.m. April 26 with help from host Jason Fitzroy Jeffers. Afterward, DJ Jeffers leads the Slow Jam Party on the Pérez Art Museum’s terrace.
